Advanced Robotics: Ages 10-14
SPIKE Prime system
This action-packed program is designed for young innovators ready to explore real engineering, intelligent robots, and advanced coding through the LEGO SPIKE Prime system.
Students begin by learning the essentials—building basic robots, controlling motors, and running their first programs. As the course progresses, they dive into sensors, smart behaviors, mechanical design, and problem-solving techniques used by real engineers and robotics teams.
Across five structured modules, learners gradually level up their skills. They start with simple movements and light matrix coding, then explore distance, color, and force sensors to create smart robots that navigate, detect, react, and avoid obstacles. In the engineering module, students experiment with gears, grippers, linkages, launchers, and lifters, building working mechanisms that enhance their robot’s capabilities.
Advanced coding concepts—loops, conditionals, variables, and automation—help students design efficient programs and complete increasingly complex challenges. The course culminates in mission-solving activities inspired by real robotics competitions, where teamwork, strategy, accuracy, and creativity take center stage. Students finish by building a final project robot and presenting their own engineered solution.
🌟 By the end of the course, students will be able to:
• Build and program SPIKE Prime robots using motors and multiple sensors
• Use distance, color, and force inputs to create smart autonomous behaviors
• Design mechanical attachments using gears, linkages, and grippers
• Apply loops, conditionals, variables, and multi-step automation
• Improve accuracy using calibration and optimization techniques
• Solve missions using strategy, problem-solving, and teamwork
• Create and present a final robotics project with confidence
